Yet, former President Donald Trump seems to know his place in history, and it’s behind the greatest golfer ever. In Vignettes & Vino, a fun story and recipe book by former White House spokesman Brian Morgenstern and his wife, Teresa, we learn just how important fellow golfer Jack Nicklaus and his 117 wins are to Trump.

Morgenstern recalled a trip on Air Force One when “the president asked us whether we thought it was harder to be president or harder to do what Jack Nicklaus had done. Staff Secretary Derek Lyons was quick to reply that being president of the United States was harder. President Trump smirked, shrugged, and said, ‘I don’t know. Eighteen majors. I mean, come on. There have been forty-five presidents. There’s only one Jack.’”

  • AR-15s aren’t just for target practice anymore. In fact, a lot of hunters use them for deer and boar, and the industry’s trade group, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, is urging hunters to post their photos with their guns and trophies. The NSSF said it “is helping hunters to reject gun control’s accusations that modern sporting rifles aren’t meant for hunting. Nothing could be further from the truth.” …
  • In our interview with former EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland, he revealed that he has had only one negative reaction to his testimony, from an anti-Trump activist in Portland, Oregon. With that exception, he said, during the start of a tour to promote his new book, The Envoy: Mastering the Art of Diplomacy with Trump and the World, due out Tuesday, everybody else seems to like him. He told us, “I’ve been all over the United States for business, for personal, and universally, I’ve had not one finger raised at me.” What’s more, he added: “I can tell you what party someone is in by how they greet me. If they’re a Democrat, they say, ‘Oh, it’s so nice to meet you. You’re the ambassador, right?’ They go, ‘Thank you for telling the truth’ or some version of that. The Republicans will say, ‘Oh, you’re the ambassador. Thank you for your service.’ That’s what I hear.”
