The Senate’s king of mushrooms, Indiana Sen. Mike Braun, hit the jackpot again while hunting for them over the Thanksgiving break. “I couldn’t believe what I ran into. I found about 25 to 30 pounds of oyster shelf mushrooms,” he said.
“That’s the most I ever found,” the edible-fungus expert said. “There’s always good things that occur when I go back to Indiana.”
- House Democrats and Speaker Nancy Pelosi are getting grief from Republicans for laying out a 2021 work schedule that is, well, short on work. The new calendar shows just 101 workdays, one of the lowest in modern history, which is odd considering that the Democrats plan to work hand in hand with Joe Biden. By comparison, past GOP-led Houses averaged 135 workdays.
- Hillary Clinton is getting her own oral project. The University of Virginia’s Miller Center of Public Affairs said that it has begun interviewing about 70 friends, family, associates, and foes of Clinton for its Hillary Rodham Clinton Oral History Project. Clinton has promised to sit for at least 20 interviews about her days as first lady, secretary of state, and 2016 presidential runner-up.
- Biden’s pick for secretary of state, Antony Blinken, got some love from his friends and former teammates on Washington’s Edlavitch Jewish Community Center indoor soccer team. “If the reports are true, Tony @ABlinken will be joining the best foreign policy team since this one, which was undefeated!” tweeted New Jersey Rep. Tom Malinowski, who shared a photo of the team. Another friend, Dewey Wigod, added, “I was on a trip with Tony down the upper Hudson River, and I can attest that he is a mean canoeist.”
