Double whammy: Twin anti-Obama books top NYT best-sellers

Updating an earlier post, Secrets learns that the New York Times non-fiction best-seller list on Sunday will list two anti-Obama books. Publishing sources say that the for the fourth consecutive week Ed Klein’s “The Amateur” will stay in the No. 1 spot, and David Limbaugh’s new book, “The Great Destroyer, Barack Obama’s War on the Republic,” will land at No. 2.

Sweet irony for the authors: Limbaugh’s book, which lists about 150 reasons conservatives don’t like Obama, has received no attention from the Times or the mainstream media and Klein’s book, in which he reveals Bill Clinton’s sneering at Obama and efforts to hush one-time Obama pal Rev. Jeremiah Wright, has only been criticized in a book review.

Publishing sources  said that they are somewhat surprised with the books getting the top two slots on the New York Times list considering the lack of network and lefty cable TV attention or any notice from big newspapers. They told Secrets that they credit the play the books have received on the Drudge Report and in conservative media for nabbing the NYT best-seller spots.

They also said Wednesday night that the high sales indicate that there is a growing market for books critical of the president even if the media isn’t paying attention to them.

“I think it also goes to dispel the story line that the Tea Party has faded away. They are eating these up,” said one source.
