This week’s Liberal Media Scream features CNN’s Chris Cuomo citing the 75th anniversary of D-Day in urging Democrats to take a bold move toward impeaching President Trump.
In his commentary on the anniversary, a day that saw Trump give what even critics called his best speech yet, Cuomo called on Democrats to take a D-Day move to impeach.
“Where it leads, how it ends, you can’t know, and that should not be your guide. Do your duty. This is D-Day. We’re celebrating people making the ultimate sacrifice only out of a matter of duty,” he said.
Cuomo said on the June 6 “Cuomo Prime Time” on CNN:
Enough with the talk. Do your duty. That is your reason to be. That is the point of your existence. …
Where it leads, how it ends, you can’t know, and that should not be your guide. Do your duty. This is D-Day. We’re celebrating people making the ultimate sacrifice only out of a matter of duty. Take a look at the Constitution. Your job is to check the executive, whether to do that or not or how, that’s up to you, but you’ve got to make a decision. People will punish you doing nothing or going in different directions at once and rightly so. Mr. Mueller seemed to suggest that he found things in his report that required your oversight. Get him up there. Let it be clear for the American people, and then, you make a decision about what your duty is here, and you do it.
Media Research Center Vice President of Research Brent Baker explains our weekly pick: “Message to Cuomo: Don’t castigate President Trump for misusing the setting of Normandy to attack his political opponents when you are no more hesitant to employ the solemn D-Day anniversary to advance your own political agenda. Whether or not Democrats decide to impeach, the discussion about that political choice does not belong in the same space as the war deaths of thousands.”
