A day after his commanding performance in a presidential debate that attracted historic levels of TV viewership, a new Virginia poll has Mitt Romney up slightly over President Obama in the battleground state both camps say they need to take the White House.
Rasmussen Reports this morning revealed the results from their Thursday night polling that has Romney edging Obama 49 percent to 48 percent.
It’s a tiny reversal in Romney’s favor. Three weeks ago, the pollster had Obama over Romney 49 percent to 48 percent. In August, the two were tied at 47 percent.
The poll came after the Wednesday night debate and before Romney and running mate Rep. Paul Ryan’s visit yesterday to central Virginia.
Rasmussen’s poll suggested that Virginians are engaged in the election. Ninety-one percent of Virginia voters now say they are certain to vote on Election Day, he said. Among these voters, the candidates are tied at 49% apiece. Among all Virginia voters, the candidates also are tied when it comes to the key issue of the economy.
