Twice-elected Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner announced her campaign to challenge Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez, hoping to use her strong ties to the national GOP and former President Donald Trump to take out the scandal-tarred lawmaker.
In a statement to Secrets, the mayor of Mendham Borough, which sits 40 miles from Manhattan, blasted Menendez’s “career of cronyism” and unbending support of President Joe Biden.

“We need a fighter — someone who believes hard-working Americans matter and who will stop Joe Biden’s failed economic policies,” she said.
“Bob Menendez has failed New Jersey — because he’s more interested in enriching himself and his cronies than he is in delivering for hardworking New Jersey families. That’s why it’s high time for ‘Funny Money’ Menendez to be put into permanent retirement,” added Serrano Glassner.
She is something unique in New Jersey. Not only is she a rare elected Republican but she is also the first woman to be mayor of Mendham.

Despite facing several probes and scandals, Menedez has succeeded in elections largely because New Jersey doesn’t have big-name statewide Republicans. He is currently facing new charges from Biden’s Justice Department.
Last year, Serrano Glassner, 60 and a mother of two daughters, won 61% of the vote in her reelection. Menendez, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is underwater in job approval, 36%-45%, according to a Monmouth University poll released in August.
Serrano Glassner has deep ties with the national Republican Party. She was a 2016 convention delegate and served in the Bush administration.
Her husband, Michael Glassner, was a senior official in Trump’s 2016 campaign and the 2020 campaign COO. He also heads the Patriot Legal Defense Fund Inc. created to help Trump with his legal fees. He is credited with organizing some of Trump’s biggest campaign rallies.
So far, only a couple of other lesser known Republicans have joined the race to get the chance to face Menendez in the 2024 election.

Should she get the nod, Serrano Glassner is likely to seize on many of the national conservative issues that appear to be helping Republicans in key Senate races.
For example, in her statement, she promised to be “someone who believes parents’ rights matter, and who will keep woke ideology out of our schools. And we need someone who will stand up to Washington, D.C. and do what’s right for New Jersey.”
