Washington, D.C. area Airbnb rentals for the Inauguration of President-elect Trump have spiked up to 1,900 percent as residents seek to cash in.
An “upscale, fun, gay friendly” one bedroom apartment in Dupont Circle, for example, rents for $99 Friday night, but soars to $2,000 on Inauguration eve.

Another one bedroom that rents for $109 a night jumps to $1,050 during the Inauguration.
“Host Sara” has a typical Airbnb rental. It reads:
1 bedroom near National Mall. AirBNB id: 3125138. Occupancy up to 2 guests. Inguration weekend price $999 per night. Christmas weekend price $99.
Some owners are leaving just during the Inauguration and renting out their pads. One of those, described as a “Charming Rental for Inauguration or Women’s March,” is going for a bargain $400 a night.
Larger apartments are demanding even more. A two bedroom apartment that sleeps five near the convention center that typically rents for $229 is offered at $2,500 a night during the Inauguration.
Overall in D.C., the average price per night for Airbnb is $633. This week it’s $169.

Hotels are also cashing in, even the new Trump International which is offering a five night deal for $500,000.
