One of the first House Republicans to call for the impeachment of President Joe Biden and key members of his Cabinet said Wednesday that making good on that promise is the “will of our voters” who will reward the GOP with control of Congress.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) used her Twitter account to renew her push for impeaching Biden and his team because she continues to hear demands from supporters for action, despite calls of caution from some in GOP leadership.

She warned that taking no action, as some House Republicans have called for, will lead to the defeat of the party and the loss of the majority next year.
“Republicans took back the House from Democrats 5 times in the past 100 years, including 2022,” she said. “Only 2 times Republicans held the House. That’s because Rs honored the will of their voters who sent them there” then.
“Impeaching Joe Biden is the will of our voters, because of the overwhelming amount of evidence proving his crimes,” she added.

The push for impeaching Biden and members of his Cabinet, including Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Attorney General Merrick Garland, have spiked this week due to new border problems and the “sweetheart” plea deal the Justice Department handed first son Hunter Biden.
Today, Greene’s impeachment bill is the “most viewed” piece of legislation on Congress.gov. It is titled, “Impeaching Joseph R. Biden, President of the United States, for abuse of power by enabling bribery and other high crimes and misdemeanors.”
And this week, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) introduced articles of impeachment that were focused on the border crisis and said she would try to press for a vote.
We will not win in 2024 if we do not inspire the base and many people who won’t vote for Republicans because R’s are not addressing the two biggest issues in the country.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), however, has argued for slow-walking impeachment. Greene is a close ally of McCarthy, and her call for impeachment could be a message directed at the speaker.
He warned that impeachment could hurt the majority. “What majority do we want to be?” McCarthy reportedly asked House Republicans in a closed-door meeting. “Give it right back in two years or hold it for a decade and make real change?”

Greene apparently isn’t buying that argument.
“Impeachment is the right thing to do by holding those who break the law accountable,” she tweeted. “Being on the team does not mean bending over to vote for moderates so they don’t have to take a hard vote. Being on the team means putting America First.”
