There is no love lost between Dinesh D’Souza and former President Barack Obama, whose Justice Department convicted the conservative author and movie maker of making improper campaign contributions to a friend after he released an anti-Obama film.
“If you strike at the Empire, won’t the Empire strike back? I was obviously the dumbest criminal in America,” he writes in his upcoming book, “Death of a Nation,” which is also being made into a movie, both out next month.
In the book, D’Souza goes after Obama by charging that the nation’s first black president did little to help African Americans and instead became a “recruiter” to expand the Democratic Party’s “plantation” of voters.
“Clearly blacks are a group that the Democrats now take for granted. Even America’s first African-American president didn’t feel the need to address their plight, other than to keep the benefits flowing to ensure their total dependency on the Democratic Party,” he writes in a charge that has been echoed by some in the black community.
The book charts the racial politics employed by Democrats over decades and says that it was Obama who moved to expand the party’s minority voter base by adding gays and new immigrants.
“Obama’s ‘remaking’ of America seems to have focused more on what may be termed the frontier of the Democratic plantation,” D’Souza wrote in the St. Martin’s Press book provided to Secrets.
“Obama fought hard to legalize and normalize gay marriage, and he introduced the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) policy of refusing deport the children of illegal immigrants who have grown up in the United States. In this respect, Obama may be considered a plantation recruiter, seeking to draw new groups — homosexual activists and illegals — to join blacks in relying on the federal government for their security and advancement,” he wrote.
D’Souza was recently pardoned by President Trump after a lobbying campaign by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
In his preface, D’Souza suggested that his arrest by the Obama administration was a signal to conservative immigrants to get behind Democrats or else.
“Obama didn’t just despise me; he despised people like me. I was a non-white immigrant born in the same year as Obama, an Ivy League graduate as he was, an American success story just like him, and yet I saw America very differently than he did,” D’Souza said.
“I came to see my travails as reflecting a larger enterprise, not the demise of my American dream, but the project for the demise of the American dream itself,” he said, and he went on to warn, “the death of the American dream is a real possibility. There are very powerful people in America who are working overtime to kill America.”
