President Biden and his team at the Department of Homeland Security were warned that the 2020 candidate’s border promises would result in the current migrant surge, but he chose instead to bring “chaos” to the U.S.-Mexico line, according to former President Donald Trump’s immigration policy architect.
“Biden’s transition team was warned by career DHS officials that terminating our proven border security measures would lead to catastrophic consequences … they ignored those warnings and voluntarily unleashed chaos,” said Stephen Miller in a series of tweets today as new Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas faced questions on Capitol Hill.

Even before Inauguration Day, former Trump officials were warning that Biden’s plan to dismantle the Republican’s border security agenda would result in a surge of illegal migrants.
And it was even worse than predicted. Some 130,000 are expected to be apprehended this month, according to officials.
Miller helped to put in place strict rules on the border to stop the free flow of illegal immigrants. He also urged Immigration and Customs Enforcement to find criminal migrants in the United States and deport them.
Now, he tweeted, those policies have been rejected, and the Obama-Biden practice of “catch and release” is essentially back in practice.

Many of those seized by officials are processed and returned. But many are also put in temporary housing or handed off to contractors, including churches that move the migrants around the country.
At hearing, @RepJohnKatko asks @SecMayorkas why he isn’t calling the border situation a “crisis.” Mayorkas:
“I’m not spending any time on the language that we use. I’m spending time on the operational response on the situation at the border. That’s what I’m focused on.”

Miller said the policy is a mistake.
