It’s fast turning into another unpleasant week for the White House, and the House Republican leader’s team is making sure the nation knows it.
Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s communications team this morning, hours after gas lines started forming on the East Coast, sent out the following message.
“This is President Biden’s America: ‘Gas prices are up. The unemployment rate is up. And illegal border crossings are up.”
It highlighted the gasoline pipeline crisis that Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s emergency declaration suggested could last through June 10, the surprise drop in jobs, and the historic immigration disaster on the border.
“President Biden’s border crisis is getting worse — along with its humanitarian, public health, and national security implications. Yet he, Vice President Harris, and House Democrats refuse to address it,” emailed Mark Bednar, McCarthy’s director of strategic communications.
The email helped to draw attention away from the street fight between McCarthy and No. 3 House GOP leader Liz Cheney, who faces getting the boot today from her post for challenging former President Donald Trump’s claim of election fraud.
But, according to a new YouGov survey, people are far more concerned about the economy, jobs, and immigration than anything else.
