Former Sen. Jim DeMint has written a handful of government-focused books but now is turning to fiction and the Bible.

  • With Democrats in charge of Washington, Team Biden members are winning top spots on K Street. The latest is Clayton Cox, former national finance director for the Democratic National Committee, who is joining McGuireWoods Consulting as vice president of federal public affairs. Well known on Capitol Hill, he has worked for President Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton.
  • The National Association for Gun Rights has enlisted Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul to help fight the “U.N. gun ban.” Paul has sent out a fundraising letter warning about the potential for gun-grabbing under the U.N. Small Arms Treaty. A proponent of the Second Amendment, being also able to attack the United Nations puts Paul in his happy zone.
  • First in on the 2024 Republican presidential fight is the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute. The Washington-based foundation said that it is launching a “Time For Choosing Speaker Series” featuring several potential candidates. Included in the lineup so far are former Vice President Mike Pence, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott, Sen. Tom Cotton, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
