Merry Doomsday Christmas.
Growing fears that Washington is descending into chaos and taking the country with it is fueling the growing prepper movement, so much so that a prepper homestead Christmas catalog is debuting this year.
Dan Carpenter, a real estate consultant and preparedness proponent, has just issued a “Gifts that Matter” catalog and tells us that while “there’s no gift that can make you immortal, there are some that can definitely increase your odds of making it through a sticky situation.”
He is offering packages for several types of preppers, “The Tactical Guy,” “The Homesteader,” and even “The Apocalyptist.”
The items, over 160, include water filters, collapsible guns, an Israeli gas mask, Potassium Iodide for use in a nuke attack, triage tape including one printed “deceased,” and survival courses, potential answers to internet-fueled fears of a civil war or attack on the electric grid.
Carpenter said that prepping has turned mainstream over the last decade and even includes many Washingtonians.
In fact, a camp created for Washington preppers is selling out in West Virginia. Drew Miller, the founder of the Fortitude Ranch, recently told us, “We’re seeing members from all the three-letter agencies,” a reference to the Central Intelligence Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Added Carpenter, “It’s not just the conspiracy theorists and whack jobs that are taking action. Within the last decade and a half, prepping has become so mainstream that you might even overhear Joe Watercooler talking about his ‘bug out bag.”
