Feds spend record $4.11 trillion in 2018, $12,500 per American

Today’s Treasury report that Washington is on a record spending pace so far this year — $1.8 trillion so far — includes one other shocking nugget: in all of fiscal 2018, the federal government spent an historic $4.11 trillion.

That spending amounts to more than $12,500 for every person in the United States.

The government website USAspending.gov is flashing it on their homepage.

It links to the Treasury report which showed tax receipts of $3.3 trillion, making for a deficit of $778 billion

The reports showed a spike in spending after former President Barack Obama took office, and it is now going through another jump under President Trump.

In fiscal 2008, for example, outlays totalled $2.9 trillion. At the end of the Obama era, they were $3.8 trillion.
