Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Friday doubled down on her defense of long-jailed Jan. 6 riot suspects by noting how one organizer favored by Democrats has evaded prosecution.
In reacting to newly released testimony from self-described organizer Ray Epps, long suspected of being a government informer, the Republican tweeted Friday, “Number One, Ray Epps should be in jail.”
NEW QUESTIONS ABOUT VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS’ CAPABILITIES
The Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the United States Capitol just released the testimony of Epps and several others interviewed in its investigation.
In his testimony, Epps brushed off suggestions that he was an informant and said that he was a willing participant and organizer. In a text that day cited by the committee, Epps said, “I was in the front with a few others. I also orchestrated it.”
Asked to elaborate, Epps told the panel, “What I meant by ‘orchestrate,’ I helped get people there.”
Number one, Ray Epps should be in jail.
Number two, those members of Congress should not be seated and should face serious ethics charges for abuse of power.
Number three, they should have to pay for all the attorney fees for the people they politically persecuted. https://t.co/kDaaf4yddc

It remains unclear why Epps has not been arrested after his participation when hundreds of others have been tracked down and charged and jailed.
The testimony drew the attention Friday of Federalist CEO Sean Davis, who tweeted it out, drawing Greene’s reaction.
“On the afternoon of January 6, Ray Epps texted his nephew about the events at the Capitol: ‘I was in the front with a few others. I also orchestrated it.’ And we wonder [why] he was never charged and why he’s the only person whom [Jan. 6 panel members Reps. Adam] Kinzinger and [Liz] Cheney will defend,” Davis wrote.
Greene, who has gone so far as to go to the jail in Washington where some Jan. 6 suspects have been held to demand an improvement in cell conditions, retweeted it with her Epps comments.

What’s more, she added, “Number two, those members of Congress should not be seated and should face serious ethics charges for abuse of power.”
And, she added, “Number three, they should have to pay for all the attorney fees for the people they politically persecuted.”
Some of those charged have admitted fault, and some who were found guilty of insurrection have been sentenced to long prison terms.
