Facebook is the dominant social media network for younger voters, towering over Google Plus and Twitter, according to a new Harvard University Institute of Politics survey of over 3,000 millennials.
What’s more, it is used evenly by younger Democrats and Republicans, making it a truly bipartisan website. Some 87 percent of younger Republicans and an equal 87 percent of younger Democrats have a Facebook account, said the new survey.
Not so with the other major social networking sites. Democrats, for example, have the lead on Twitter, 46 percent Democrat to 38 percent Republican, and Google Plus, where 52 percent of younger Americans have accounts compared to just 36 percent of younger Republicans, said the IOP survey.
Young Republicans have the advantage, 40 percent to 32 percent, on Pinterest.
