This week’s Liberal Media Scream features Donny Deutsch, who, while he no longer has his own TV show, continues to rant about what a “tyrant” President Trump is.
The MSNBC Morning Joe regular slammed Trump as “a sociopath and whatever the worst tyrants in history were capable of doing, he is capable of doing.” Appearing on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, Deutsch claimed that while “we all keep saying it can’t happen here … It is happening here! And people need to be frightened.”
He proceeded to warn host Bill Maher that Trump’s supposed misuse of the Justice Department means “you and I could end up in jail really easily. We’re not that far from that.”
Deutsch prefaced his remarks by recalling how “I took a lot of heat on my show going through Nazi Germany in the ‘30s and the parallels” to the Trump era. He was referring to allegations he made in July on his since canceled MSNBC program, comments detailed in the July 29 Liberal Media Scream: “Donny Deutsch: ‘I’m not saying Trump is going to slaughter 6 million Jews’”
Deutsch on the Oct. 25 Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO:
“You left out something in your dictator list, beyond creating an other, all of a sudden the Justice Department is not an individual branch. It serves not only at the pleasure of the president, but for and on behalf of the president. By the way, you and I could end up in jail really easily. We’re not that far from that. I’m a doom and gloom guy, but I really believe it’s this bad.”
Media Research Center Vice President of Research Brent Baker explains our weekly pick: “Giving credence to such ludicrously exaggerated fears should embarrass anyone pretending to be a journalist or a pundit but not Deutsch who remains beyond embarrassment. He has repeatedly made comparisons of Trump to Nazi Germany, and now he has added the paranoia that Trump might imprison him. Why would Trump do that when Deutsch is an embodiment of the East Coast elite’s irrational derangement when it comes to all things Trump?”
