PHILADELPHIA — Just an hour after Hillary Rodham Clinton became the first-ever woman nominated to be president by any party, her team and a chief surrogate turned it into a fundraising scheme.

“Hey, it’s official. Hillary Clinton is the first woman to be nominated for president by a major party,” the campaign bragged.

The rest of the message: Donate $10 bucks and get a car magnet.
“This huge,” added the message. “Commemorate this moment with a limited-edition magnet.”

And as it arrived in email boxes, former presidential candidate Howard Dean spoke to the Democratic convention here with this message: “Go to HillaryClinton.com right now to donate.”
