President Joe Biden, currently on a whirlwind overseas trip meant to whip up international support for taxes and climate change, is seen as the weakest commander in chief of all recent presidents.
And in the latest Rasmussen Reports survey, likely voters also said that the president is much less aggressive than other presidents as he has turned away from former President Donald Trump’s assertive “America First” agenda.
Rasmussen cited the disastrous hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan as the turning point in Biden’s plunge to a weak leader.

“In the aftermath of the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal, voter appraisal of President Joe Biden’s leadership has shifted sharply and a majority now view him as a weaker leader than his predecessors,” said the poll analysis shared with Secrets. It said that 57% of likely U.S. voters think, compared to most recent presidents, Biden is a weaker commander in chief for the military, up from 43% in May.
Just 24% see Biden as a stronger commander in chief than other recent presidents, a number fueled by Democrats.
The president, in Scotland attending a climate summit, is also underwater by a 3-1 margin when it comes to recent presidents acting aggressively on the world stage.
Sixty-three percent of likely voters said that Biden, caught cat-napping by the British press on Monday during an opening session, is “less aggressive” when “pushing what’s best for America,” said the polling outfit. Just 20% said he is more aggressive, and 11% said he is about the same.
As with virtually all recent polls, the partisanship is deep when judging the Democratic president. Democrats largely support Biden, though not with the intensity Republicans backed Trump. Republicans are lined up against Biden.
