Former White House spokesman Sean Spicer’s name is back on a White House press release, but this time as the subject, not the writer.
Spicer, a commander in the Navy Reserve, was nominated to the governing board of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he is to join several prominent politicians including Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings and former Trump doctor Ronnie Jackson.
In a list of nominations touted by the White House, the last entry said, “Sean Michael Spicer, of Virginia, to be a Member of the Board of Visitors to the United States Naval Academy for the remainder of a three-year term expiring December 30, 2021.”
The board meets three times a year to review “the state of morale and discipline, the curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods, and other matters relating to the academy which the Board decides to consider,” according to the academy.
Trump also nominated two to the board of visitors of the U.S. Military Academy, David John Urban, of Florida, and Guy C. Swan III, of Virginia.
Spicer told Secrets, “This is a huge honor to join this prestigious group of people on the board.”
And, he added, “it’s odd to be in a press release instead of writing it.”
