Gun owners are bracing for a new Biden administration ruling that could turn millions of them into lawbreakers.
We hear that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives this month is expected to rule on the legality of AR-15-style “pistols” equipped with a brace so that handicapped shooters can use them. One group said that the rule was being reviewed at the White House.
BLACK FRIDAY GUN SALES WERE THE THIRD HIGHEST EVER
Gun groups expect the ATF to rule that the popular firearms should be regulated under the National Firearms Act, requiring a $200 tax and registration. One reason: It is sometimes sold not for handicap use but as a short rifle with an adjustable stock, just the type of gun ATF and President Joe Biden want to ban. Nonetheless, several states (including Virginia) recognize the weapon as a legal-to-own pistol, even for concealed carry users.
What is unclear is whether the owners of those guns, if put under new rules, will avoid having to pay the tax and register. Or will they become criminals overnight?
Since it is a step in the direction of regulating “assault weapons,” it’s expected that the Biden team will greenlight it soon.
