Liberal Media Scream: It’s all Trump’s fault, says MSNBC

This week’s Liberal Media Scream features a new attack on President Trump from MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” show, this time blaming the president for inciting terrorism and anti-Semitism.

Joe Scarborough on Monday’s show blamed Trump and Attorney General William Barr for the possible release from jail of Coast Guard Lt. Christopher Hasson, who is accused of plotting a domestic terrorist attack. But it is a federal judge who will hear and decide that request for release.

“Donald Trump and Attorney General Barr and the Trump Justice Department let him walk,” Scarborough charged, though Hasson is still behind bars. Scarborough offered a villainous reason: “We’re talking about the rise of white nationalism and here is a guy that is planning to slaughter everyone of Donald Trump’s political rivals.”

Minutes later, guest Eddie Glaude Jr. of Princeton University, added, “There’s an environment, a context that is allowing this stuff to metastasize.” He zeroed in on Trump “talking about the ‘sick idea’ of sanctuary cities, talking about immigration and Disneyland,” so “we have in some ways a president that is embracing a segment of the population that literally has the country by the throat, Joe. We have to do something about this or we’re going to see even more die.”

From the Monday, April 29 “Morning Joe” on MSNBC:

Joe Scarborough: “And the Trump administration is doing nothing about it. You look at the former Coast Guard member who had a kill list of media members, but also the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, the minority leader of the Senate, Democratic presidential candidates. This was a guy who had a kill list, he had a manifesto, he was inspired by a Norwegian mass murderer, a white nationalist who killed over 70 people, slaughtered dozens and dozens of children at a day camp, and Donald Trump and Attorney General Barr and the Trump Justice Department let him walk. …

“Do we believe that Barr would have released somebody that had Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Republican candidates — the top Republican candidates running for political office in 2020 — on a kill list? Do we really believe that Donald Trump and Barr would allow that person that had weapons and had a manifesto and had a kill list of the top Republicans in America that he was ready to go out and kill, do we really believe that Barr and Trump would let that person walk free? Again, we’re talking about the rise of white nationalism, and here is a guy that is planning to slaughter everyone of Donald Trump’s political rivals. …”

Eddie Glaude Jr.: “There’s an environment, a context that is allowing this stuff to metastasize. You have the Coast Guard, you have the churches in Louisiana, and now you have this. Just as we’re dealing with the fact that a 19-year-old is murdered, a 16-year-old woman injured, and an 8-year-old child and others, Donald Trump talking about Charlottesville, Donald Trump talking about the ‘sick idea’ of sanctuary cities, talking about immigration and Disneyland. Remember what motivated the carnage at the Tree of Life? It was the caravan, it was the kind of globalist Jew of George Soros who was funding this. So, we have an environment that is so toxic; we have in some ways a president that is embracing a segment of the population that literally has the country by the throat, Joe. We have to do something about this, or we’re going to see even more die.”

Media Research Center Vice President of Research Brent Baker explains our weekly pick: “Scarborough and Glaude embody all the hate and divisiveness they condemn in Trump. Culpability for hateful violence lies with the perpetrators. Those like Scarborough who use media platforms to blame a political leader for violence are only making the situation worse by exacerbating the toxicity of the public debate.”

Rating: Five out of five screams.
