Poll: It’s OK, Kris, to be mad about Caitlyn — 69% would be too

Reality star Kris Jenner’s silence about her former husband’s transformation from Olympic star Bruce Jenner to transgendered Vanity Fair cover model Caitlyn Jenner has been interpreted as anger over the whole scene.

And, according to a new poll, that’s OK because some 69 percent of other spouses would be very mad too if their significant other came out one day and said, “Honey, I’m trans.”

The just-posted YouGov.com poll also said that more parents than not would also be angry if their child declared they were transgender.

The key finding:

“Despite a slim majority of Americans saying that they do not think it is immoral to be transgender, the public is more divided about how they would react if someone close to them told them they were transgender. 41 percent would be ‘upset’ or ‘very upset’ if their child said they were transgender while 39 percent say that they would not be very upset or not upset at all.

“People are far more likely to say that they would be upset, however, if they were in the shoes of Kris Jenner. 69 percent would be unhappy if their spouse told them that they were transgender while only 16 percent say that they would not be very upset or not upset at all.
