In the latest blow to American unity, supporters of President Trump and Joe Biden see each other as the nation’s biggest “enemy,” even more than China and Russia.
The latest Rasmussen Reports survey found that one-third of Democrats and Republicans see the other as the top threat to the nation.
And together, those polled by Rasmussen put Biden supporters and China as the top enemy.
“U.S. voters now regard each other as a bigger enemy than Russia or North Korea and just as dangerous as China,” said the analysis. “Twenty-four percent of likely U.S. voters think Biden voters are America’s biggest enemy as 2020 draws to a close. The same number (24%) see China as enemy number one.”
The partisan divisions are huge.
Among Republicans, 37% “feel Biden voters are the biggest enemy, just edging the 34% who feel that way about China,” said Rasmussen.
Among Democrats, 35% “think Trump voters are the biggest threat, far and above the danger posed by all the others,” said the survey firm.
And for independents, a pox on all three. “Voters not affiliated with either major party rate China, Biden voters and Trump voters all equal as threats,” said Rasmussen.
That appears to be a jump in the division plaguing the country and far worse than the earlier findings in polls that Republicans and Democrats no longer want to be friends or even hire those with different political views.
