Richmond protesters: ‘Stand with Portland,’ promise to ‘f— shit up’ at rally tonight

Protesters in Richmond, Virginia, promising to stand with violent Portland, Oregon, activists, are threatening their own clashes with police Saturday night at the city’s Monroe Park, near the controversial memorial to Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.

Flier provided to Secrets warns of violence tonight in Richmond.

In a profanity-laced flier, the protesters promised to “f— shit up” and encouraged activists to “do what you want.”

It also attacks President Trump, federal authorities, and members of the Richmond and Virginia State Police: “F— the feds. F— RPD. F— VSP. F— Trump.”

The flier has come to the attention of the Department of Homeland Security.

Monroe Park has been the headquarters for Black Lives Matter and other protests in the city.

According to local WRIC Channel 8, a city councilwoman has asked the mayor how he plans to handle the event that begins at 9:30 tonight.

The station said that Richmond Councilwoman Kim Gray emailed Mayor Levar Stoney and newly appointed Police Chief Gerald Smith about the flier.

“As I am sure you know, publicity for this event is calling for participants to gather at Monroe Park at 9:30 p.m. tomorrow night. It can very easily be inferred from the attached flyer that participants will be encouraged or incited to engage in violent behavior,” Gray wrote, according to WRIC. “It would be tremendously reassuring to residents if the city administration and RPD could communicate a plan of action.”

Portland has seen more than 55 nights of violence against federal agents protecting a federal courthouse. They just put up a larger fence, but it has been attacked by protesters, usually after midnight.

“It has now become a consistent target of the rioters who try to tear it down and breach it using ropes, saws, and power tools,” DHS said in a just-released statement.

Richmond has been a hotbed of protests this year. It started with anti-gun control activists protesting the new Democratic-controlled legislature imposing severe gun control measures and heated up with protests against Confederate statues on posh Monument Avenue.
