Donald Trump Jr. rips Romney: Conservative 'in name only’

Donald Trump Jr., beginning an anticipated busy tour to promote his upcoming book, Triggered, is urging supporters to send copies to top Democratic critics of the White House and GOP Sen. Mitt Romney to help “educate them” about the campaign to undermine his father, President Trump.

To draw attention to his effort, he unveiled a new website that plays on the title of his book, Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us, called “Trigger a Liberal.”

On it, he lists several lawmakers and their addresses he wants supporters to send a copy of the book to: Romney, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Adam Schiff.

Above their names, he wrote on the webpage, “If you’d rather see this country fail than succeed under President Trump, this book might not be for you. If you’re an American and think Donald Trump is ‘not your president,’ this book is also not for you! But just because you’re wrong, it doesn’t mean we won’t try to convince you otherwise!”

His goal, he said in a call, is that “hopefully maybe get it in front of some people who wouldn’t otherwise buy it so that they could educate themselves on what’s actually going on in the real world, not just in their little D.C. bubbles.”

Romney is the only Republican on the list and comes after the Utah senator has been especially critical of Trump over issues making headlines in the Democratic impeachment inquiry.

“I think he probably needs a little education,” said Trump. “Mitt, while perhaps he’s a conservative, it’s in name only these days. I wish he would have fought as hard for conservative values when he had his chance at the presidency than he has defending the liberals during someone else’s. While I don’t believe he’s a liberal, it doesn’t really mean much if you’re actually not fight for an administration that’s getting done so much for the conservative movement, so perhaps he needs a reminder of that,” he added.

Trump’s book is due out Nov. 5 and takes on several of those who have criticized him and his father, including the media. In the call, he declared that the media is the “marketing arm” of the Democratic Party.
