This week’s Weekly White House Report Card finds President Obama in a pickle of sorts, frustrated by the Syrian war and Russian aggression. But pollster John Zogby notes that Obama is seeing success on the global warming front.

It is just so hard to watch Aleppo and the deterioration of Syrian. Equally hard is seeing U.S. relations with Russia completely fall apart. Being president means knowing when to be judicious in the use of power and moral suasion. America’s hands are tied when it comes to Syria. We find President Bashar Hafez al-Assad disgusting but so are the rebels.
Can U.S. action from President Obama make anything better? Probably not.
And Russia’s Vladimir Putin has his own history and interests to take care of. Sending more troops and increasing air strikes only work up to a point. This is just a bad situation and none of the candidates for president seem to offer a way forward.
Meanwhile, agree or not, the Paris Treaty on Climate Control goes into effect and the rest of the world — plus historians — cheers it as a step forward in getting a handle on a potential disaster.
