Despite the president’s bid to calm concerns about Islamic terrorism, a new poll shows that 60 percent of Americans believe the country is at war with the radicals and a staggering 92 percent believe radical Islamic terrorism is a threat to the U.S.
A new Rasmussen Reports poll said that just 24 percent don’t believe the U.S. is at war, a two-to-one margin favoring those who do.
“Even 56 percent of Democrats believe America is at war with radical Islamic terrorism, a view shared by 70 percent of Republicans and 54 percent of voters not affiliated with either major party,” said the analysis.
It follows a House vote Thursday in which even dozens of Democrats rebuked Obama’s policy of bringing Syrian refugees to the country.
Rasmussen’s Friday poll also showed a significant drop in those who believe that the Paris massacres don’t represent Islam.
A plurality of 46 percent agrees with the president that the attacks don’t represent “true Islamic beliefs,” Rasmussen said. But that’s down noticeably from 58 percent who felt that way in February.
