Poll: Trump is the working class candidate

Republican presidential front runner is the overwhelming choice of working class white America but remains behind Hillary Clinton, 53 percent to 40 percent, because unmarried women and minorities have abandoned him, according to a new Democratic poll.

The survey found Trump beating Clinton among white non-college educated men and women, 59-34 percent.

But to win the election, every single white male voter would have to go to the polls and vote to help him across the finish line in front of Clinton, added the poll from Women’s Voices Women Vote Action Fund, and pollster Stan Greenberg with Democracy Corps.

While Trump has his strong supporters, it doesn’t look enough in this poll, announced Friday afternoon, for him to win.

Consider this statistic: When looking at the depth of support for the candidates, Clinton has enough “loyalists,” at 46 percent of Democrats, as all Trump supporters combined — “loyalist” at 30 percent, “supporter at 8 percent, and “conditional” at 1 percent. Clinton’s total was 56 percent.

What’s more, she has a huge advantage among unmarried women. Said the survey analysis:

“Married women are supporting Donald Trump by a slim 3-point margin. Unmarried women are supporting Hillary Clinton by a vast 52-point margin. This 55 point ‘marriage gap’ is the largest we have seen and indicates that unmarried women will play a pivotal role in 2016.”
