Marjorie Taylor Greene rips ‘House of Hypocrites’ and warns of payback if stripped of committees

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene ripped Democrats for moving to strip her of committee slots, warning that the rare punishment could come back to haunt them if the GOP retakes the House majority in 2022.

“If Democrats remove me from my committees, I can assure them that the precedent they are setting will be used extensively against members on their side once we regain the majority after the 2022 elections,” she wrote in one of over two dozen tweets Monday.

“And we will regain the majority, make no mistake about that,” she added.

Democrats angered with some of her preelection online postings, which some said are threatening, and her strident support for former President Donald Trump have said they will punish her by taking away her committee assignments.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is leading the effort. “Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene must be held accountable for her reprehensible statements, and I am discussing with members the best course of action to do so,” he said in a story posted by the Washington Examiner’s chief congressional correspondent Susan Ferrechio.

In other tweets today, Greene said that the Democrats and media are plotting to sideline her because she is an outsider who strongly aligned with Trump’s America First policies, including withdrawing from long-simmering wars.

“The DC Swamp and the Fake News Media are attacking me because I am not one of them. I am one of you. And they hate me for it,” she wrote in one.

“Bush, Biden, Kerry, Hillary, & Steny conspired to push the biggest lie of the 21st century, the Iraq War, costing our country trillions of dollars and thousands of lives. Now they’re showered with adoration by Fake News reporters (who used to be ‘anti-war’). House of Hypocrites?” she wrote in another.

Democrats seem undeterred in their effort to target her, even though they will need a two-thirds majority to take away her committee assignments.

The liberal group MoveOn has joined in the campaign.

In her tweets today, she pushed back on some of the charges against her, including threats against members and support for conspiracy theories, by demanding that Democrats strip their members accused of threatening members and promoting conspiracy theories.

“When will @LeaderHoyer remove @RepMaxineWaters from committees for her call for targeted harassment of Trump officials?” she wrote in one.

She also posted signs of support, including two photos where people wrote, “#StandWithMTG.”
