Bernie Sanders: Hillary to play ‘important role, needs to be heard’

Sen. Bernie Sanders Thursday said that Hillary Rodham Clinton will still have an important role in the Democratic Party despite her loss to Donald Trump.

“Her voice is an important voice and certainly needs to be heard,” he told a media breakfast roundtable.

“She has a very important role to play,” he said at the event sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor.

Since her election loss, Clinton has spoken little and aides have not suggested a post-election role for her. She is not expected to run again having lost twice in bids for president.

Despite his support for Clinton reentering the political world, Sanders, elevated to the top Senate Democratic role of outreach director, said that he won’t be agreeing with all of her positions.
