The “Arab Spring” that President Obama hoped to ride to diplomatic bliss in the Middle East has turned into a Fall fiasco that has majorities of voters in key battleground states angered and opposed to shipping more taxpayer aid to Egypt, birthplace of the Arab Spring.
A new poll provided to Secrets from the national security focused group Let Freedom Ring, found that 66 percent of likely voters in Ohio and Pennsylvania and 60 percent in Virginia and Wisconsin oppose the president’s decision to continue aid to Egypt worth up to $2 billion yearly.
“As more details have come to light about the Obama Administration’s outreach to Egypt, voters are souring on the notion that taxpayers dollars are propping up a government controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood,” said Colin Hanna, President of Let Freedom Ring. “Americans cannot be on the hook for a regime that supports terrorism and threatens our closest ally, Israel.”
The group has recently issued ads hitting Obama’s sympathy for the Muslim Brotherhood that rules Egypt.
The poll of 1,000 likely voters in each of the four states was conducted October 1 by Pulse Opinion Research.
