RFK Jr.: Only Democrat who could ‘beat Trump in a debate’

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dominated Twitter over the weekend by spreading photos and videos of him working out at the famous Gold’s Gym on Venice Beach and declaring he was getting jacked to debate President Joe Biden.

But it’s his claim in a separate interview about debating former President Donald Trump that is getting attention on Monday.

“I feel like I’m the only Democrat who can beat Trump in a debate,” he said on Club Random with Bill Maher.

Unlike his photos posted on Twitter to demonstrate that he may be fitter than Biden, Kennedy said he would focus on the mistakes he believes Trump made during the coronavirus crisis.

“I can hold him responsible for the lockdowns. The lockdowns cost our country $16 trillion, and they shifted $4 trillion in wealth from the middle class and the super-rich,” said Kennedy, who is well known for questioning vaccines.

“The lockdowns, while he was president, created a billionaire a day. He shut down 3 million businesses,” he added.

After Maher agreed, Kennedy added, “I don’t think any of the other Democrats can talk about that issue.”

Kennedy is a long shot for the Democratic nomination. He appears popular in Democratic polls, but Biden, so far, holds a commanding lead.

Biden associates have suggested the president won’t engage in primary debates.

When Maher urged Kennedy to give his podcast his debate 411, Kennedy said, “Who do you think I’m going to debate?”

Maher said, “Biden,” to which Kennedy responded, “You think Joe Biden will ever debate me?” He added, “He should.”
