Lighting the national Christmas tree at the White House will cost taxpayers $139,000 this year, according to a report.
The total was discovered in documents obtained by TMZ. The sum total is less expensive than 2019’s pre-pandemic Christmas tree, which cost roughly $160,000 under the Trump administration, according to the outlet.

The National Park Service paid an Ohio company to locate and transport this year’s tree to be displayed at the White House, according to the documents. The federal government reportedly signed a contract for the tree back in September.
While last year, a virtual tree lighting ceremony was held amid rising winter cases during the COVID-19 pandemic, this year will see the return of a live audience for the event.
The National Park Service dished out another $171,000 for “event support” for the 2021 ceremony, according to the documents.
