Biden official omitted meetings with Hillary Clinton and George Soros from public calendar: Report

One of President Joe Biden’s top officials in the Securities and Exchange Commission omitted meetings with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and billionaire George Soros from his public calendar despite keeping the details in a private copy, according to reports.

Gary Gensler, chairman of the SEC, reportedly removed references to several meetings from his public calendar, which is available on the agency’s website, later adding some meetings back to the public version months after the fact, according to Fox News. These events varied on a range of topics, including meetings with Clinton, Soros, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), White House official Minyon Moore, and more.

One such meeting that was scrubbed was a meeting he had with Clinton on Aug. 7, 2021, that was not included on Gensler’s public calendar but was listed in his private calendar, according to the outlet. Meanwhile, the public calendar only indicated he had a staff meeting on that day.

On Aug. 20, Gensler’s public calendar showed that the SEC chairman had a meeting to discuss an op-ed piece written for the Wall Street Journal but failed to include a meeting he had with Soros on that same day listed on his private calendar, a review from Fox News found.

The removal of calendar events was discovered through internal records obtained by the watchdog group Energy Policy Advocates after the group filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the SEC. The group then provided the records to Fox News, which reached out to the SEC.

The public version of the SEC chairman’s calendar has been updated to include past events, with spokespeople for the agency telling the outlet the records are updated “from time to time” when meetings or events are missing. It’s not clear whether those events were added to the calendar after Fox News inquired about the omission.

Gensler is a former Obama administration official who worked as the chief financial officer for Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2016. The Senate later confirmed him as the agency’s chairman in 2021 after being nominated by Biden.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Gensler for comment but did not receive a response.
