Trump has tapped a retired Marine to head the Secret Service.
Randolph “Tex” Alles is expected to be named the next director of the Secret Service on Tuesday, according to a CNN report.
Alles retired from the Marine Corps in 2011 after serving for 35 years. He is currently the acting deputy commissioner of Customs and Border Protection.
The director of the Secret Service is appointed by the president and does not require Senate confirmation.
This is the first time a director would come from outside the service in modern history.
Agents and officers expected Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, a retired Marine general and former head of U.S. Central Command, to tap another general to head the agency.
The agency made headlines recently after two agents were fired over the handling of a security breach at the White House in March.
