Byrne reportedly participated in a meeting on Dec. 18, 2020, in the Oval Office with former President Donald Trump, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, attorney Sidney Powell, and other White House staff in which strategies for overturning the results of the 2020 election were discussed.
The meeting reportedly centered on ways to block then-President-elect Joe Biden’s certification and the feasibility of seizing voting machines.
In August 2021, Byrne was sued for defamation by Dominion Voting Systems, the maker of voting machines used in 28 states, for allegedly manufacturing and promoting false evidence claiming that Dominion machines were rigged to manipulate the results of the 2020 election. The litigation is ongoing.
