Porn star Stormy Daniels’ attorney filed a motion Wednesday seeking to depose President Trump and his longtime attorney Michael Cohen about a $130,000 payment made to Daniels before the 2016 election.
Michael Avenatti filed the documents in federal court in California. He is seeking to question Trump and Cohen for “no greater than two hours” each.
He argued that the depositions are necessary to establish whether Trump knew about the hush money and if he gave approval for it.
A hearing on the motion is scheduled for April 30.
Cohen negotiated a nondisclosure agreement with Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, just weeks before the presidential election. She alleges she had an affair with Trump in the beginning of his marriage to Melania. Avenatti has argued that the nondisclosure agreement is invalid because Trump never signed it.
The White House has denied the affair.
