The White House issued multiple apologies Wednesday to former Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) for a statement issued by the Democratic National Committee mocking the Tuesday suspension of his presidential campaign.

Hutchinson had struggled to build momentum in the Republican presidential primary and dropped out of the race after earning just 0.2% support at Monday’s Iowa caucuses. A DNC spokesperson reacted to his suspension with a statement reading, “this news comes as a shock to those of us who could’ve sworn he had already dropped out.”
