President Donald Trump is swearing in former Sen. David Perdue as the U.S. ambassador to China.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.

SENATE CONFIRMS DAVID PERDUE AS US AMBASSADOR TO CHINA AMID TRADE WAR

Perdue was confirmed by the Senate in a 67-29 vote, with many Democrats crossing over. He is known as a longtime critic of Beijing.

His appointment comes amid increased tensions between the U.S. and China, which are embroiled in a trade war.
