The White House is slated to hold a press briefing Thursday afternoon following a rise in the number of people filing new applications for unemployment benefits, as reported by the Labor Department on Thursday.

Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre‘s briefing comes after the Federal Reserve announced on Wednesday that it will raise interest rates to the highest level in 16 years. This is the ninth interest rate raise in a row, with a 0.25 percentage point hike.
