Michigan is drawing national attention for its open Senate race between socialist Democrat Abdul el Sayed and normie Republican Mike Rogers.

The contest is competitive, expensive, and full of the usual arguments about which party will control the chamber. Yet for all the attention, it’s not the most consequential choice on the Michigan ballot. That distinction belongs to Proposal 1, a ballot question that asks whether the state should call a constitutional convention for the first time in 66 years.
