Who: Wayne County, Mich., Department of Public Services
What: Fired groundskeeper John Chevilott from his job of 23 years because he found an abandoned gun among some weeds while on the job, reported it and handed it over to the police. The department cited their policy barring employees from bringing guns to work.
Why it’s dim: The guy did the right thing and was punished with the loss of his job.
Cure: Reinstate Chevilott with back pay, and give him the job of whatever idiot fired him.
