Rep. Jan Schakowsky’s minimum-wage menu is just a cheap stunt

Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., and Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, are levying a cheap pathological appeal with unmatched tone-deafness.

The pair accepted a challenge to legislators from the liberal advocacy group Americans United for Change — they’re promised to commit themselves to a $77 budget for one week, and urge their House colleagues to join them in the endeavor. The organization says the average minimum wage worker has $77 in disposable income each week after taxes and housing expenses are paid for.
