The World Health Organization seems intent on continuing to embarrass President Joe Biden for his decision to have the United States rejoin the body.
The WHO is now going to purchase over 100 million doses of China’s ineffective vaccines, a plan that Biden and the White House opposed.
The Chinese vaccines do not work. Bahrain, Chile, Mongolia, and Seychelles have seen surges in cases even though a higher percentage of their population had been vaccinated than in the U.S.

Biden has no power to stop this, though. He gave up all his leverage with the WHO when he rejoined the corrupt organization unconditionally. Biden pledged to rejoin the body, no questions asked, during his presidential campaign. He followed through on that in his first days in office, even though the WHO had allowed itself to be used as a propaganda tool for China during the pandemic.
This — blindly following — was Biden’s idea of restoring American leadership.
Since Biden brought the U.S. back into the WHO, the organization has added the tyrannical regimes of Syria and Belarus to its executive board, which already includes Vladimir Putin’s Russia. Biden’s administration did nothing to stop it other than voice its “grave concerns.”
Biden can’t really do anything to stop the WHO from promoting dictators or spreading Chinese propaganda. He has shown that he will commit U.S. taxpayer dollars to the WHO regardless of what they do. There is no threat of him walking away from the table. He has no leverage to influence WHO policies or procedures or hold WHO officials accountable for their failures during the pandemic.
The WHO is not redeemable. Like much of the United Nations, it is a bureaucracy controlled by tyrants with little regard for its stated purpose of global health. We all saw this last year when the WHO was ignoring Taiwan at the behest of China.
It was clear that the WHO was not worth the time or taxpayer money we were putting into it — clear to everyone, that is, except Joe Biden. Meekly protesting the organization’s decisions does nothing but continue to make America look weak. Yet that is the only play in Biden’s playbook right now.
