Planned Parenthood had a choice to make: Abide by the Trump administration’s new pro-life rules attached to Title X federal funding, or forgo the funding altogether. It chose the latter.
The abortion giant, which performed over 300,000 abortions in 2018, has made a big scene over the new-and-improved Title X guidelines, claiming they are “being forced out of the program,” which is supposedly “absolutely devastating.”
For the first time in nearly 50 years, Planned Parenthood is being forced out of the Title X program, meaning people across the country who are already struggling to make ends meet might not be able to access the care they need.

This is fake outrage at its finest. Planned Parenthood has never needed federal funds; in fact, it recently ended the fiscal year with a surplus.
Its own annual report from last year makes it clear that Planned Parenthood can easily survive without federal funding. It took in $60 million in taxpayer-funded Title X subsidies yet had over $220 million in “excess of revenue over expenses” and ended the year with at least $1.4 billion in “net assets.”
It’s clear that Planned Parenthood doesn’t need any taxpayer subsidies at all.
What’s worse, this isn’t even recent news. Back in 2015, while investigating Planned Parenthood for selling aborted baby parts, the House Oversight Committee found that the organization was actually swimming in excess federal funds. Still, for some reason, Planned Parenthood has continued to receive millions of taxpayer dollars.
The fact that Planned Parenthood is whining now on social media and to the press about how they have been “forced out” of the Title X program shows how disingenuous the organization is and amounts to a blatant attempt to mislead the public. Planned Parenthood knows that it doesn’t need any federal funds, yet it’s using President Trump’s Title X reform to score fake victimhood points and probably fundraising dollars, too.
No one should take its complaints seriously. Its loss of Title X funding is a good thing.
Pro-life advocates and fiscal conservatives have long called for Congress to defund Planned Parenthood. Unfortunately, the GOP congressional majority from 2016 to 2018 either lacked chutzpah or logistical prowess. But either way, ending Title X funding for the abortion organization is at least a step in the right direction.
