In the first hour of a two-part interview with Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, the artist formerly known as Kanye West waxed poetic on everything from his pro-life politics and support for former President Donald Trump to sharing a trainer with Lizzo and feuding with Vogue and Conde Nast. But of all the tea spilled by the world-famous rapper, producer, and fashion designer, none was simply stranger than Ye’s beef with the brothers Kushner.
Let’s start with the more famous brother. Kanye and Jared Kushner reportedly became close enough that they were exchanging phone calls “almost daily,” per Forbes, and the two were spotted dining in Miami as recently as this January. But on Thursday, the artist first criticized the former White House adviser on Instagram for “holding Trump back” and then on Carlson’s prime-time hour. Ye also accused Kushner of making money off of the Abraham Accords.

But West reserved his real ire for Joshua Kushner, the younger brother and husband of model Karlie Kloss. According to West, Thrive Capital, Josh Kushner’s venture capital firm, owns a 10% stake in Skims, the clothing line founded by West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian. By contrast, West, whom Kardashian has credited as the “ghost creative director” for the brand, claims he only owns a 5% share of the company. (As an aside, Kloss was once best friends with Taylor Swift, Kardashian Enemy #1.)
Kanye isn’t wrong to claim credit for the success of Skims, as well as his ex-wife’s broader foray into high fashion. After all, West was scoring front-row seats at Fashion Week and starring in Louis Vuitton ads (with another future Kardashian enemy, Amber Rose) while Kim and her sisters could only dream of earning an invite to the Met Gala, let alone donning the cover of Vogue — a feat that Kim achieved, once again, thanks to Kanye’s consistent and direct lobbying of Anna Wintour. And most obviously, the entire aesthetic of Skims clothing derives from Yeezy, Kanye’s atelier.
Kanye also noted that Skims, which he criticized for “overly sexualized” imagery, is a primarily online retailer, implying that with its low overhead would not need the magnitude of funding supplied by Kushner. (Skims is currently valued at more than $3 billion.)

Ultimately, like most of the drama dished on in the hour, Kanye’s central complaint came down to control, in this case, the younger Kushner controlling his and his ex-wife’s creative brainchild.
Also, Kanye still considers Ivanka Trump “FIRE,” even if her husband has migrated away from his good graces.
