Donald Trump Jr. politely requested that the people of West Virginia reject ex-con, coal baron Don Blankenship during the Republican Senate primary. They obliged, and now, ten days later, the Washington Examiner first learned the president’s son is hosting a luncheon for GOP nominee Patrick Morrisey.
Thanks in part to Trump and Trump Jr. interventions, Morrisey easily dispatched Blankenship. He also triumphed over Rep. Evan Jenkins, R-W.Va. With some more help from the first family, he hopes he can knock off incumbent Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V. His chances are good.
Much has been made of Trump’s double digit win in West Virginia during the presidential election. More telling is his approval rating now. In the Mountain State, Trump is still a rock star with a 61 percent approval rating — his highest in the nation.
The Trump-Morrisey luncheon will be June 5th at Paterno’s at the Park in downtown Charlestown, and the cuisine will be Italian. The cheapest tickets are $500 and the most expensive, $5,400.
