The Daily Outrage — September 2, 2008

WHO: Manchester, Vt., town manager John O’Keefe

WHAT: O’Keefe and other Manchester officials want Vermont’s congressional delegation to support an earmark of $400,000 in federal tax funds so the city can complete a utilities project that already has state and local funding sources.

HOW: O’Keefe told the Bennington Banner that “there are few certainties in life — death, taxes. One involves the government. I’m hoping the earmark process is the third.”

WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: After all the public outrage nationwide about earmarks and the political corruption it spawns, some people in government just can’t bear the thought of the pigpen being cleaned up.
