During a “Democrats Live” event hosted by the DNC Tuesday night, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., went after President Trump’s relationship with Goldman Sachs.
Noting Trump’s campaign promise to fight for working people, Warren claimed, “He’s just turned right around and built an entire team of billionaires and bankers.”
Flanked by DNC Chairman Tom Perez and Deputy Chairman Keith Ellison, Warren quipped, “He’s got so many guys from Goldman Sachs over at the White House now I think they’re going to open a branch office.”
After some laughs from the crowd, the senator continued, “That’s not working for the American people, and I think that’s the point we have to keep reminding him about.”
Here’s a reminder for Democrats – according to Opensecrets.org, the top recipient of campaign donations from Goldman Sachs employees in 2016 was the DNC itself. In fact, among candidates in 2016, Hillary Clinton was the single biggest beneficiary of donations from Goldman Sachs employees.
Remember when Warren “[worked her] heart out” to get Clinton elected?
Democrats wishing to avoid flagrant hypocrisy should first consider their own party’s cozy relationship with “billionaires and bankers” before criticizing Trump.
